PDG Statement

St Mary’s PDG Statement

The Pupil Development Grant (PDG) is a key enabler for tackling the impact of poverty on educational attainment and ensuring high standards and aspirations for all.  The aim of the grant is to raise the attainment of children and young people from low-income households. PDG-CLA is given for care-experienced or children looked after (CLA). It does this by reducing the barriers that they often face to achieving their full potential.

Schools are expected to make the best use of this funding to implement sustainable strategies that will quickly bring about changes for learners eligible for free school meals or who are LAC.

As a school we have agreed the following three steps:

  • To identify the target group of pupils, its characteristics and needs
  • To plan interventions which make the most effective use of resources
  • To monitor and evaluate the impact of resources

In the academic year of 2025-2026, St Mary’s Catholic Primary School has been provided with a total PDG allocation of £33,809 This consists of £30,359 PDG and £3,450 Early Years PDG.

At St Mary’s we have a comprehensive plan, agreed and monitored by Carmarthenshire Local Authority, to promote progress and remove barriers to learning for students eligible for this funding.
